The Brightside - Tooth Fairy Felt Pocket

In our latest Brightside: Mumma of two, Halee Reynolds, shares how to make this charming Tooth Fairy Felt Pocket—crafted to make losing a tooth feel truly magical.
With a little help from her imaginative kids, each pocket is made with love, care, and a sprinkle of fairy dust. It’s the perfect place to tuck away tiny teeth and wake up to tiny treasures—turning bedtime into a moment of pure wonder.

Tooth Fairy Pillow Craft
Tools & Equipment:
Felt in desired colours (front, back, pocket, and for tooth + stars)
Embroidery floss and needle (you could also use glue instead of sewing)
Fabric scissors Stuffing (wool roving or poly fill)
Paper and pencil (for making pattern and writing your letter) Ribbon (for hanging)
METHOD
1. Create a Pattern:
- Use a round item to trace a circle shape onto your paper, draw a
matching half-circle for the pocket
- Hand draw or trace any other elements you would like to include,
for example a tooth and stars
2. Cut the Felt:
- Using your paper patterns as a guide, cut two circles for the front
and back of your pillow
- Cut one half-circle for the pocket
- Cut out your chosen shapes
3. Decorate Pocket and Front of Pillow:
- Sew your shapes (tooth + stars) onto the front circle and the pocket
- You might like to add extra embroidery stitches to decorate, or you could even embroider your child’s name
4. Assemble:
- Bring all the pieces together
- Starting from the left top of the pocket and working your way down, sew around the outside of the pillow using a blanket stitch
- Stop and the very top so that you can insert your ribbon and then continue back down toward the pocket, leaving a gap for your stuffing
5. Add Stuffing and Finish Pocket:
- Push the stuffing through the gap you left in your sewing
- Continue sewing to close the pillow
- To finish, come back across the top of the pocket to create a neat edge
Your Tooth Fairy Pillow is Finished!
- It’s time for your little one to write a letter to the tooth fairy and place it in the
pocket with the lost tooth.
- Hang your pillow by the bed or place under your little one’s pillow while you wait
for your magical visit from the tooth fairy!
