MEET ALLY.

The single mama of four from the northern rivers talks us through her busy days, and the immense learning and self growth that goes hand in hand with becoming a mama.

Who makes up your family?

Our amazing little family consists of me, my names Ally and I’m 30.  Then my four incredible children.  Chase is 10 and he’s my tall, handsome, sports fanatic. There isn’t a sport he won’t play.  Crew is almost 8 and he’s the most beautiful, unique and quirky child I’ve ever met. He has his own universe that he spends most of his time ruling.  Cody is 6 and she is my ray of sunshine. She is beautiful, kind and so incredibly happy. Everyone she meets adores her. She is an amazing co-ordinated dancer and spends half her week in classes but still walks into walls at home.  Coa is 3 and he is my wild child. He is incredibly smart, sporty and energetic. Put it all together and he’s an unstoppable force of nature with a beautiful heart.

Tell us a little bit about where you live. . .

We live on the northern rivers NSW. I absolutely love this part of the world. We have the best of everything. Countryside, farmers markets, lantern parades, festivals,  amazing beaches from Brunswick Heads down past Byron and Ballina and Evans Head. It’s fairly remote here though so we do need to travel to QLD to access almost everything else.

What does a ‘typical’ day look like in your household

I am a full time stay at home mum and yet my days never seem long enough.  With 4 children there isn’t a week day I have free from appointments, therapy or sports. Coa is still at home with me every day. He will start preschool eventually but for now, I love him being here. Cody starts school this year and I’m going to miss her like crazy.

How do you split your time between four kids!?

Splitting time is by far my hardest job. Coa gets me the most because he’s only 3. Then Cody does because she dances so often during the week.  Crew has the most therapy and Chase plays so much sport. Most of the time we are all together.

Mama life is all go, what do you do to fill your cup?

I read when I can, I love to listen to music and dance around the house like an idiot. I like my kids to see me do silly things, it makes my heart happy when I see them being ridiculous.  Life is serious enough and if I manage to make my kids confident enough to line dance across the house in their undies then that’s a win.

What has been the most surprising part of your motherhood journey?

Motherhood is a journey of learning and growing that never ends! I have grown so much in the last 10 years. I’m not even close to being the same person I was pre kids. I fell pregnant with Chase when I was 19 and found out shortly after his second birthday that he’s autistic. He has also just been flagged as dyslexic. Then when Crew was born it was obvious he was also on the spectrum along with global delays. Cody has a speech delay and Coa was born with Laryngomalacia  Tracheomalacia and severe sleep apnea that had him on oxygen until he was 1..... So I simply keep learning and try to do what’s best for my family.
